Jamie Foxx is ‘planning’ to return to stand-up comedy after years-long hiatus
Jamie Foxx suffered from an undisclosed medical scare last year
Jamie Foxx is ready to stand up in front of a mic again.
Foxx, 41, admitted that he is ready to step away from the big screens and return to his roots as a comedian.
Taking to his Instagram on Wednesday, the Django Unchained star posted a throwback video of his HBO special I Might Need Security, particularly of his impression of Prince singing the theme song to The Brady Brunch.
Reminiscing about the good old days, he wrote in the caption, “PRINCE singing the Brady Bunch was a moment… I’m planning in bringing more moments.”
He continued, “Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell…”
Foxx found his foothold in the industry as a stand-up comedian and has put out multiple comedy specials over the years. He has also released five studio albums between 1994 and 2015 as a musician.
Eventually, he broke through into cinema and rose to fame as a revered actor, even earning an Oscar for his role in 2005’s Ray.
However, he has been away from the spotlight, especially over the past year as he battled and recovered from an undisclosed medical condition.
