Swedish Social media influencer Elvira Lundgren broke the internet by posting a video showing her hair transforming into ice after stepping outside at -30 degrees Celsius, reported NDTV on Friday.
"Temperatures have reached -30 degrees Celsius, and I just had to do a little experiment," Lundgren wrote in the caption of the video on Instagram.
Social media sites crashed with people sharing similar tales of such funny encounters, from frozen car doors, and icy beards to pets sporting icy furs.
While Lundgren's frozen spectacles might grab the headlines, it posits a stark reminder of how climate change is adding to the difficulties faced by Swedes and the people residing in places with such bone-chilling figures.
On Wednesday, Sweden recorded a temperature of -43.6 degrees Celsius making it the coldest January night in 25 years.
"To put that into perspective, that is the lowest January temperature in Sweden since 1999," Mattias Lind, a meteorologist at Sweden's National Weather Agency (SMHI), told AFP.
The lowest temperature recorded was -49 degrees Celsius in January 1999 tying with the record set in 1951.
The freezing temperatures have halted several everyday activities with bus services being suspended and trains travelling up north to the city of Umea cancelling their schedules for several days.
