Jason Kelce, the 36-year-old centre for the Philadelphia Eagles, brother of Travis Kelce, responded to fans' criticism in the most recent edition of their podcast, "New Heights", about how much he looked like "Sam the Snowman" from the 1964 film "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
"There's a tweet about me that a bunch of you might have seen,” Jason said, referring to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that pointed out his likeness to the jolly, Burl Ives-voiced character — and garnered over 60,000 likes and 3 million views according to People.
"Not buying into it,” Travis, 34, said of the tweet.
Jason expressed doubts about his likeness to the handlebar moustache and chin puff of the singing snowman. He said that he is more similar to a different character from the holiday special, bearded polar prospector "Yukon Cornelius".
“That's the one that everyone's always… and it's from the exact same movie so I was shocked when this picked up so much steam because I've always gotten that one,” he added.
According to Travis and Jason, the snowman with the bowler hat on resembles their father, Ed, who is also a Kelce.
“I think we're both getting major Ed Kelce vibes with the snowman,” Jason said. “That’s an Ed Kelce.”
“One thousand percent,” Travis added.
Though Travis noted that Jason once had a similar "stache, adding, "You had the handlebars at one point," the NFL players appeared to believe that Sam and Jason's primary distinction was their facial hair.
