Prince William and Kate Middleton are extending their royal responsibilities yet further as King Charles III gives them new special titles.

The royal couple has received new titles following a reorganization of military appointments within the family, according to The Telegraph, citing the Buckingham Palace, nearly a year after they were given those titles by King Charles III following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Kate Middleton has been named the Royal Honorary Air Commodore of Royal Air Force Coningsby, Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards, and Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm.

Prince William has been appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Mercian Regiment, Colonel-in-Chief of The Army Air Corps, and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Valley, where he once served for three years as a search and rescue pilot.

Duchess of Wales obtains her first senior position with the Royal Air Force (RAF) when she is named the new Royal Honorary Air Commodore for RAF Coningsby. The title, however, also has a unique connection to her grandpa, Captain Peter Middleton, who, according to The Telegraph, flew with Queen Elizabeth's late husband Prince Philip in 1962 during a two-month flying tour of South America.

In the reorganization, other members of the royal family, such as Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Prince Richard, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, also got new military titles.

Some of the new positions were originally held by Prince Andrew, who lost his military ties in January 2022 as a result of a sexual assault lawsuit.

According to the outlet, Camilla now has the honorary title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards and the position of Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Lancers, whereas Edward's wife Sophie formerly held the position of Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Irish Regiment.

"Following His Majesty's Accession, The King is pleased to announce further military appointments for working Members of the Royal Family," the palace said in a statement, per People magazine. "The new appointments will continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family in His Majesty's reign."
