Chris Evans bids farewell to social media for now
Chris Evans was apparently inspired by Taron Egerton decision
Chris Evans is going offline as he deletes his Instagram and Twitter accounts before the Fourth of July when his Marvel character Steve Rogers would turn 105.
"Hey, everyone. I'm treating myself to a summer with less screen time, so I'm taking a little break from Twitter and IG," the Ghosted star tweeted, adding, "See you soon! Much love!"
The 42-year-old decision to temporarily leave social media was apparently inspired by Taron Egerton's recent announcement that he would be logging out from his social networks for the rest of the year.
Evans applauded the 33-year-old decision by sharing his post on his Instagram story with the caption, "Couldn't have said it better myself!!! Count me in. Gonna take a little break. Much love, everyone!"
Meanwhile, the Rocketman actor explained his exit from social platforms for now as he wanted to end his online addiction.
"I'm not sure why I'm making a big declaration about it," he added. "I just think it's hard to break away from a cycle that I've grown to find a bit addictive and this is me making a commitment to myself."
The Kingsman star went on to state that he's "gotten myself into a place where I spend too much time scrolling" and now thinks "my ability to sit and be present and read books and watch movies and even seek out the company of people I love is eroding as a result."
