Punjab University’s Oriental College organised a farewell ceremony in the honour of former Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning, principal University Oriental College and Chairman Department of Punjabi Prof Dr Ismatullah Zahid here on Tuesday. According to a press release, the ceremony was presided over by PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran while Prof Dr Ismatullah Zahid, College Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Fakhar-ul-Haq Noori, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Azhar, Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria, Dr Mazhar Moeen, Dr Muhammad Akram Shah, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said Dr Ismatullah Zahid not only revived old academic traditions of the college but also set new trends as well. He said the academic, research and administrative services of Dr Zahid would be remembered forever. He said Dr Ismatullah Zahid did not create any hurdle for any of his colleague and there were three professors in his department.
Khawaja Muhammad Zakria said Dr Zahid did his PhD under his supervision and he found him a student with excellent research skills. He said Dr Zahid was a good poet as well and he carried out a lot of development work at college.
Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori said Dr Zahid was a friend of everyone and he always facilitated his colleagues.
In his farewell address, Dr Ismatullah Zahid remembered the golden days at the college and thanked Allah for success of his academic journey. He thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for his support in uplifting the college.
