Woman burnt alive in house fire

A woman was burnt alive when fire erupted in her home in the Naseerabad police limitson Monday.

Police said that the victim Mrs Ijaz was busy in kitchen in her house in Gul Bahar Colony. Suddenly, the house caught fire. Neighbours called police and rescue teams. They reached the incident place on information and controlled the fire.

They also evacuated the victim and shifted her to hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. Police removed the body to morgue, collected forensic evidence from crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses.

FOUND DEAD: A 40-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police limitson Monday.A passerby informed police about a man lying unconscious. Police reached the incident place on information, shifted the victim to hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police said that the victim looked like an addict and might have died due to excessive use of drugs. Police have removed the body to morgue.

Emergency service: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Brig (r) Dr Arshad Zia carried out performance review of emergency operations in Punjab during daily review meeting to ensureuniform standard of the service and quality emergency care without any discrimination.

It has been observed that 55,754 victims of emergencies were rescued in 54,492 rescue operations during the month of January in the Punjab province. Rescue 1122 responded to 54,492 emergency calls, including 16,944 road traffic accidents, 30,296 medical emergencies, 931 fire incidents, 1,360 crimes, 17 drowning incidents, 33 building collapses, 23 explosions and 4,888 miscellaneous operations.

According to the statistics, Rescue 1122 also provided swift response to 931 fire incidents all over the Punjab. Out of total fire incidents most of the fire incidents occurred in major districts which included 248 fire incidents in Lahore, 111 in Faisalabad, 76 in Rawalpindi, 52 in Multan, 38 in Sialkot and 18 in Sargodha. Similarly, out of total 16,944 traffic accidents, the majority road traffic crashes were reported in big cities of Punjab which included 3,573 road traffic crashes in Lahore, 1,503 in Faisalabad, 1,032 in Gujranwala, 1,003 RTAs in Multan and 784 road traffic accidents in Rawalpindi. The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig (R) Dr Arshad Zia said the increasing number of fire emergencies needed public vigilance while using electrical and gas appliances especially turn off electrical and gas heater before going to bed to avoid possibility of occurrence of fire emergency. He requested public to play their role as responsible citizens for safe building construction, installation of proper emergency exits & stairs, fire alarms, availability of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants & sprinklers systems for high rise buildings, industry and warehouses for prevention of fire emergencies and carefully use all electrical and gas appliances to avoid occurring of fire emergencies and bearing heavy loss. Besides that, Rescue 1122 is on a single call away in case of any incident and only timely emergency call can ensure timely emergency response.

ACCIDENTS: A total 640 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which nine lives were lost and 523 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 231 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by emergency medical teams.
