CIA police Thursday arrested a member of a banned organisation from Bund Road and recovered explosive material from his possession.
The terrorist identified as Ali Fraz was arrested a few minutes after he reached the provincial metropolis. Police recovered explosive material, detonators and ball bearings from his possession. The arrested terrorist had a plan to commit a subversive act in the city. Police dispatched the terrorist to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

Two labourers received burns when fire broke out in a shoe factory in the Gajjumata, Kahna area on Thursday.
The injured labourers were admitted to hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger. Cause of fire was said to be a short-circuit. Upon being informed, the firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished fire after hectic efforts.
Emergency service: Punjab Home Secretary acknowledged and appreciated the services of rescuers in a ceremony held at Home Department through “gallantry certificates” who responded swiftly and professionally in ammonia gas leakage incident at Hanif Park, Badami Bagh, Lahore and rescued several precious human lives.
Additional Secretary Home Asadullah, Director General Rescue 1122 Brig ® Arshad Zia, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122, Lahore Dr Ahmad Raza along with officers and rescuers witnessed this ceremony.
Director General Rescue 1122 briefed that Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Lahore responded within six minutes at the incident side and after scene assessment, considering the hazardous effects of ammonia gas provincial monitoring cell moved Hazmat Unit from Rescue 1122 Headquarters which is specially designed to operate in such kind of incidents and equipped with maximum available sources.
He explained that Rescue 1122 teams provided swift response to incident side, successfully severed ammonia gas connections and cope up the leakage of ammonia gas by putting their lives on risk. Furthermore, operational staff safely evacuated 221 victims and shifted them to hospitals after provision of emergency medical treatment. The timely and professional response of the rescuers saved the incident turning into the major toxic disaster.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Secretary Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan said that Rescue 1122 is one of the best organisations, which possess professional training and all staff work with excellent coordination and soft behaviour while providing, swift response towards any untoward incident. He said that rescuers had gained respect from the public due to their timely response to emergencies and friendly professional behaviour at the incident side as rescuers have been groomed through systematic training process for such incidents.
He advised the management of Punjab Emergency Service to share their experiences with all districts, especially district emergency officers along with selective leading operational rescuers through case study of different incidents like Sundar Industrial Estate, ammonia gas leakage etc.
Furthermore, he suggested to strengthen Urban Search and Rescue Teams at division level through searching dogs along with specialised trainers which will help to save maximum lives in minimum time.
At the end, Punjab Home Secretary, Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan awarded “Gallantry Certificates” to incident commander District Emergency Officer Lahore Dr Ahmad Raza along with operational team and appreciated the job done by rescuers during this incident. He saluted the services of all rescuers by saying “well done and keep it up” and he expressed his best wishes for entire family of Rescue 1122.
ACCIDENTS: Total 489 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which six lives were lost and 391 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 203 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.SQUAD
CTO Lahore Thursday briefed the officials of special squads constituted for the elimination of encroachments and wrong parking.
He assured the officials that those who performed outstanding duty would be given cash prizes and commendatory certificates. He directed the officials to take action against encroachments and wrong parking without any discrimination.
