KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said the objections raised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Governor Imran Ismail against the probable appointment of Barrister Murtaza Wahab as new administrator of Karachi don’t carry any value.
He made this remark while talking to media persons on Wednesday, the first day of Eidul Azha.Responding to a query, he said the objections made no difference at all as they (the PTI and the governor) didn’t have any role in this affair. He said the law prescribed that it was the discretion of the Sindh government to appoint the city’s administrator.
“Likewise, I don’t have any right to object to the appointment of any particular person as a minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”The CM said he belonged to the Pakistan Peoples Party that believed in the notion that everyone should exercise the authority as defined in the law and the constitution. “And I believe that the same level of maturity would also come in the case of other political parties to raise objections or otherwise in accordance with their own legal and constitutional rights,” he said.
To a question, he said they would welcome if Prime Minister Imran Khan came to Sindh to hold public meetings in partnership with the anti-PPP political forces in the province as the opposition parties had the political right to conduct such activities.
But, the CM hoped, the people of the province after all such political activities would eventually cast their vote in the favour of PPP in the polls.The CM said that they would always welcome whenever the PM decided to visit the province as such visits were a good sign.
To another question, he hoped that the people of Azad Kashmir in the upcoming elections of their legislative assembly would cast their votes after analyzing which one of the political forces was sincere with the Kashmir cause. He said the people of Azad Kashmir this time would cast votes in favour of the PPP.
Responding to a question concerning FATF, the CM advised the federal government to take all the decisions in this regard while keeping supreme the interests of Pakistan. “And the interest of Pakistan is that there shouldn’t be any terrorism and crime incidents in the country as in no way such unlawful activities get any kind of support. We will be able to get out of this grey list if we do all these thing and at the same time the honour and prestige of Pakistan would also be restored,” he added.
On Thursday, the CM met PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the Bilawal House after the latter returned to Karachi after concluding his visit to the United States.The CM briefed the PPP chairman about the development projects being implemented by the Sindh government in the province.
He also briefed Bilawal about the hindrances created by the federal government of the PTI in efforts of his government to carry out development works in the province.The PPP chairman asked the CM to continue with implementing the people-friendly agenda of the PPP’s provincial government. He said the anti-democratic forces had always attempted to hinder or destroy the pro-people initiatives of the PPP’s government.Bilawal expressed optimism that people would emerge victorious in the next general elections and the PPP would form the next governments in the Centre and the four provinces.
