Rule of law at all costs: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that security should be tightened throughout the province for the protection of life and property of citizens.

He said police should take all out steps for a peaceful atmosphere and supremacy of law should be ensured at any cost. He said foolproof security arrangements should be made on New Year and indiscriminate action should be taken against the elements involved in aerial firing. According to a handout issued on Thursday, the CM was addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat on Thursday. The meeting reviewed law and order situation in the province. Shahbaz Sharif said police should perform its duties with commitment and efficiency. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, IGP, secretary home and officials concerned attended the meeting through a video link from Civil Secretariat.

Campuses reopen today

The public and private educational institutions, including schools and colleges will reopen after annual winter break on Friday (today).However, since most of the private institutes observe Saturday as a holiday the private schools and colleges will be reopening from Monday. Similarly, as usual, a thin attendance is expected at public schools and colleges on Friday and proper academic activities are likely to begin from Monday. —Correspondent
