Vegetables, fruits prices remain high for third consecutive week

LAHORE:Increasing trend in prices of vegetables and fruits on Sunday continued on third consecutive week despite the production season of these items being at its peak.

Normally, prices of vegetables increase during monsoon when the season affects harvesting of vegetables. Poor governance, lack of interest of elected representatives and civil administration to control and implement official prices also cause hike in prices of vegetables. The price list issued by the market committee is not implemented anywhere in the city.

Sahulat Bazaars are not benefiting the consumers because these bazaars are selling only selected vegetables and mainly fruits. Majority of vegetables are not sold in these bazaars. There is a need to open weekly Sunday Bazaars, which the government closed.

This week the price of chicken, live bird, remained unchanged at Rs191 per kg. It was sold at Rs210 to Rs220 per kg. Chicken meat was fixed at Rs277 per kg and it was sold at Rs280 to Rs320 per kg.

Price of potatoes, soft skin new A-grade, was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs55 to Rs58 per kg, sold at Rs70 to Rs80per kg, B-grade Rs48 to Rs51 per kg, sold at Rs70 per kg, potato, sugar free A-grade, was fixed at Rs38 to Rs40 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 55 per kg, B-grade at Rs34 to Rs36per kg, mixed sold at Rs40 to Rs45per kg, potato white fixed Rs28 to 30 per kg, sold at Rs45 to 50 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade was further increased byRs3 per kg, fixed atRs33 to 35 per kg, sold atRs40 to 50 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs29 to 31 per kg, sold at Rs35 per kg, and C-grade at Rs25 to 27 per kg, sold at Rs30 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade was further increased byRs6 per kg, fixed at Rs31 to 33 per kg, sold at Rs50 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs27 to 29 per kg, and C-grade at Rs23 to 25 per kg, B and C quality mixed sold at Rs30 to 35 per kg.

The price of garlic local was gained byRs5 per kg, fixed at Rs115 to 120 per kg, sold at Rs220 to 260 per kg, garlic Chinese price was not fixed sold at Rs200 to 240 per kg, Garlic Harnai was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs145 to 150 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg.

Ginger Chinese was further gained byRs30 per kg, fixed at Rs415 to 425 per kg, sold at Rs500 to 600 per kg.

Both Cucumber farm and local was fixed at Rs50 to 52 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 70 per kg.

Brinjal price was gained byRs5 per kg, fixed at Rs50 to 52 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 80 per kg.

Biter gourd was increased by Rs16 per kg, fixed at Rs70 to 73 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 100 per kg.

Spinach was unchanged at Rs30 to 32 per kg, sold at Rs50 per kg.

Zucchini farm was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs65 to 67 per kg, sold at Rs80 per kg, Zucchni local white unchanged at Rs130 to 135 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg and Zucchni local black fixed at Rs140 to 145 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg. The price of lemon local reduced byRs50 per kg, fixed at Rs100 to 105 per kg, sold at Rs120 to 140 per kg. Pumpkin was gained reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs55 to 57 per kg, sold atRs60 to 80 per kg.

Lady finger was reduced byRs17 per kg, fixed at Rs87 to 90 per kg, sold at Rs100 to 120 per kg.

Luffa was further gained byRs5 per kg, fixed at Rs55 to 57 per kg, sold at Rs70 to 80 per kg.

Green chili price A-grade gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs65 to 67 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs45 to 47 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 120 per kg.

Capsicum price was reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs95 to 99 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg.

Price of cauliflower was declined by Rs20 per kg fixed at Rs50 to 52 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg, and cabbage fixed at Rs30 to 32 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 80 per kg.

The price of pea was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs120 to 124 per kg, not sold.

Carrot Chinese was further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs60 to 62 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 100 per kg, carrot local fixed at Rs100 to 104 per kg, not sold.

Coriander was reduced by Rs20 per bundle fixed at Rs18 to 20 per bundle sold at Rs50 per bundle.

Fenugreek (Methi) was gained byRs50 per kg, fixed at Rs160 to 165 per kg, not sold.

Turnip was increased by Rs16 per kg, fixed at Rs80 to 83 per kg, not sold.

Radish was fixed at Rs24 to 26 per kg, not sold.

Beetroot was unchanged at Rs58 to 60 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs52 to 160 per kg, B-grade sold at Rs100 to 140 per kg, and A grade was sold at Rs250 to 300 per kg.

The price of banana A-category was further reduced by Rs15 per dozen, fixed at Rs120 to 125 per dozen, sold at Rs180 to 200 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs70 to 73 per dozen, sold at Rs100 to 140 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs50 to 52 per dozen, sold at Rs80 to 100 per dozen.

Papaya was unchanged at Rs150 to 155 per kg, sold at Rs180 to 200 per kg.

Melon was reduced by Rs6 per kg, fixed at Rs57 to 60 per kg sold at Rs50 to 80 per kg, hybrid melon was fixed at Rs32 to 34 per kg, sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg.

Dates Irani was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs210 to 220 per kg, sold at Rs300 to 400 per kg.

Watermelon was fixed at Rs23 to 25 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 60 per kg.

Peach A-grade was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs160 to 165 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg, B-grade was fixed at Rs90 to 95 per kg, and it sold at Rs100 to 140 per kg.

Cantaloupe was fixed at Rs48 to 50 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 80 per kg.

Apricot yellow was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs115 to 120 per kg, sold at Rs150 per kg, Apricot white was by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs145 to 150 per kg, sold at Rs150 to 250 per kg.

Mangoes of different variety were fixed at Rs42 to 150 per kg, sold at Rs100 to 250 per kg.

Phalsa was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed atRs110 to 115 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg.

Plump A grade was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs250 to 260 per kg, sold at Rs350 per kg, B-grade was fixed at Rs140 to 145 per kg, sold at Rs200 to 250 per kg.

Grapes gola was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs120 to 125 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg.

Litchi price was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs260 to 270 per kg and sold at Rs300 to 350 per kg.
