Robbers on Tuesday deprived citizens of their valuables and vehicles worth millions of rupees in the city.
Thieves took away valuables worth Rs 16 lakhs from the shop of one Khurshid Alam in Mughalpura, cash and gold ornaments weighing 13 tolas from the shop of one Shaukat in Manawan and cash Rs nine lakhs and other goods from an office of a flourmill of one Amir Iqbal in Raiwind.
Robbers looted Rs three lakhs from Azeem in Faisal Town, Rs 90,000 from Hassan Zahir in Defence A, Rs 35,000 from Zulfiqar in Islampura, Rs 35,000 from Imran in Nawab Town, Rs 30,000 from Sajid in Kahna, Rs 34,000 from the family of Habib in Subzazar and Rs 6,000 from Asghar in Johar Town. Some cars were lifted from the areas of Lytton Road, Gulshan Ravi, Subzazar, Sattukatla and Johar Town. Bikes were stolen from the areas of Shahdara, Gujarpura, Mozang, Gulshan Ravi, Sanda, Baghbanpura, Liaqatabad, Kahna and Kot Lakhpat.
Security plan: In the wake of threat alerts, the Lahore police have evolved a security plan on the eve of New Year night. As per DIG Operations, security will be put on high alert at churches, sensitive installations and entry and exit points of the city. Special police squads will be constituted to control the wheelie doers and vandals. Hotels and guesthouses will be monitored and strict action will be taken in case of any immoral activity there. Search operation will also be carried out in each police division till the advent of New Year Night. Police Response Units will patrol the areas and keep vigil on miscreants.
