A large number of voters turned out to cast their votes in local bodies election on Saturday. The polling process for election of Local Government representatives started at 7:30 a.m. and continued in some extent peaceful manner at almost all the polling stations in the district till the filing of this report.
In the early hours of polling, meagre turn out of voters especially at women polling stations was witnessed while with the passage of time queues of voters lengthened especially at the polling stations in the rural areas.
There were some complaints of late start of polling process in UC-71, UC-44, UC-86 and UC-15. The presiding officer in UC-40 Noorani Muhallah registered a complaint before Election Commission that some ballot boxes were already open. Reportedly, minor scuffles appeared in UC-27, Union Council Dhoke Elahi Bukhsh, Hazara Colony, Dhoke Kala Khan and UC-79. A bride polled her vote in Union Council Millat Colony while a bridegroom polled his vote here in Union Council Shamsabad.
