FOUND DEAD: Three persons were found dead in various parts of the city on Wednesday.A 35-year-old man was found dead in the Data Darbar area. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict, who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police recovered his body from Shesh Mahal Road, Data Darbar. In another incident, a 35-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Ravi Road police station. Some passersby spotted the body of a man lying on Bati Chowk and informed the police. The man, yet to be identified, might have died of natural causes, police believed.
Meanwhile, a 75-year-old man was found dead in Badami Bagh police station area. The man, yet to be identified, was lying dead on Khokhar Road Badami Bagh. Police claimed that the man was an addict and might have died of natural causes. Bodies were shifted to morgue.
ACCIDENTS: Total 621 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which six lives were lost and 530 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 215 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
TRAFFIC: CTO Lahore Wednesday held a meeting at Traffic Line Thokar Niaz Baig to ensure the traffic arrangements during Muharram.He directed the SPs to brief the DSPs, traffic inspectors and wardens for keeping vigil on suspects at entry and exit points of the city. He directed the DSPs to have close liaison with the management of processions and majalis.
He said that a control room had also been established to facilitate the citizens. Parking lots would be established at least 200 yards away from the majalis premises.
WORKSHOP: Two-day training workshop was held at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh for the training of volunteers who will perform duty during Muharram.
Around 300 volunteers, including women participated in the workshop on the first day in which they were imparted technical know-how in handling walkthrough gates and metal detectors and checking people at majalis and processions.
As per SP headquarters, the lists of volunteers participating in the workshop had been compiled and the process of their verification was in progress through Special Branch.
