Ajoka’s online theatre festival concludes

LAHORE:Ajoka’s Coronalogue Online Theatre Festival concluded here Thursday and now a jury of eminent personalities is viewing the selected submissions to determine the prize winners.

“Coronalogue” is the first of its kind online theatre festival on the theme of “Living and Defying Corona Lockdown” and the entries include monologues on lockdown and Coronavirus as well as humorous theatrical performances and one person acts.

The entries poured in from all parts of the country. Selected five performances will be presented live on social media and Ajoka’s YouTube channel. The first three entries will be awarded cash prizes. Talking about the Coronalogue, Ajoka’s executive director and festival curator Shahid Nadeem Director said “unlike online film festivals, Coronalogue is a theatre-based online festival. These are extraordinary times and we have to undertake extraordinary initiatives to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic.”

Ajoka Institute Director Nirvaan Nadeem said Ajoka had launched several new initiatives since the Corona crisis. They include: offering online acting and writing classes, launching of new motivational online course on “The Art of Success” and the response has been very encouraging. We might be exploring anew form of theatre-making.” The jury decision will be announced in the first week of June and the winning submissions will be performed “live” online.
