Punjab Health Department has introduced new Postgraduate Admission Policy for FCPS, according to which, additional 20 marks will be given to the medical officers at the time of admission having experience of two years service at Basic Health Units (BHUs).
Similarly, 12 marks would be awarded for two years service at Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and 10 marks would be given to the doctors having experience of two years service at District Headquarters and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals.
The new policy is aimed to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in government hospitals and encourage medical officers for specialisation. In this regard, a meeting was held in the Punjab Health Department on Tuesday to review the implementation of the new admission policy.
Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr Salman Shahid, Deputy Secretary Medical Education Dr Nasir Shakir and the team members of Chief Minister's Health Roadmap, Ms Emma Hannya, Jonny Barty and Ahmed Razzaq attended the meeting.
Dr Salman Shahid informed that all the Principals of Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents of Teaching Hospitals and EDOs Health of all the districts and the other officers concerned had already been informed accordingly. He said all the medical institutions had started implementation of the new admission policy. He said new policy would encourage the young medical officers to get admission in any specialised medical field hence maximum doctors would get benefit from the new policy.

He said the World Bank had always contributed to uplifting of all development sectors of the Punjab
Province. The Punjab government in collaboration with the World Bank is focusing on uplifting of all development sectors in the province. As a result, the contribution has proved the record development in infrastructure and economic development. During the meeting, the newly-appointed World Bank Country Director assured that the World Bank would give more funds for promotion of development sectors in Punjab.
