LAHORE:Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has finally accredited BE Electrical Engineering programme for batches 2014-2018, 2015-2019 & 2016-2020 of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
This is the first time in the history of LCWU that three batches got accreditation from the PEC simultaneously. A spokesperson said in order to meet the PEC criterion, Lahore College for Women University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza recruited qualified staff and upgraded the laboratories.
Prof Dr Bushra Mirza said this was the effort to support female students in the country to mainstream them in the development process as envisioned for sustainable development. She said education in the areas of engineering would empower women through knowledge and skill to contribute purposefully to the economic development of the country and to enable them to become responsible citizens.
Lahore College for Women University Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof Dr Intesar Ahmed said future of these students was at stake for the last two years, because of the shortage of faculty members, lab engineers, supervisor, lab equipment and other administration matters. He appreciated the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza for taking up the matter on priority and resolving the accreditation issue. The above-mentioned sessions of Electrical Engineering Department will be getting accredited degrees.
