LAHORE:The School Education Department (SED) Punjab Tuesday issued promotion and posting orders of 65 schoolteachers serving in BS-19 in BS-20 in different districts of the province.
UET: In order to combat the spread of Covid-19, Department of Textile Engineering University of Engineering and Technology’s Faisalabad Campus (UET-FSD) has produced cost and performance effective bio based anti-bacterial facemasks.
These masks have been produced with specific polypropylene non-woven fabric as per the recommendation of World Health Organisation (WHO). The key properties of the facemask include air permeability, thickness, tensile strength, water repellency, tear strength and microscopic analysis as per international standards.
Prof Syed Mansoor Sarwar said UET being the oldest engineering institute of Pakistan had always contributed to the country’s development and willing to further support the government of Pakistan in developing cost and performance effective bio based anti-bacterial facemasks for combating coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis situation.
donation: Eminent businessman and Ravian Javaid Habib Oberoi has initiated a sliver scholarship for deserving students with a donation of Rs0.5 million to the Government College University Lahore Endowment Fund Trust (GCU-EFT) for the scholarship of financially-challenged students.
GCU-EFT Executive Committee Secretary Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt handed over the donation cheque to Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi on behalf of Oberoi.
Prof Zaidi appreciated that it was the 9th sliver scholarship initiated by Javaid Habib Oberoi, and it would be given to a financially-challenged student every year on need-based merit. He added the endowment fund never spent the principal amount but the profit they earned from the principal amount was spent on the most deserving students.
wheat procurement: Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman has said that wheat procurement target has been set at 4.5 million tons in the province and field officers would have to work day and night to meet this challenge as well as curbing the spread of coronavirus.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting to review arrangements for wheat procurement campaign in the province. The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Food Department, Commissioner Lahore Division and officers concerned whereas divisional commissioners joined through a video link. The meeting decided that only licence holders would purchase the grain during the wheat procurement campaign.
The chief secretary said that under the policy, private purchase, transportation and storage of wheat except for personal use has been disallowed. Feed mills and unregistered seed companies would not be permitted wheat purchase as well, he maintained. He ordered stern action against hoarders, asking administrative officers to coordinate with law-enforcement agencies to check hoarding.
