Protective kits distributed among medical staff

LAHORE:PML-N leader and former Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Dr Saeed Elahi has distributed hundreds of protective kits among the staff of Children’s Hospital Lahore here on Monday.

While presenting the protective gear to the doctors and medical staff in the presence of Young Consultants Association (YCA), Young Doctors Association (YDA) and representatives of Paramedics’ Association, Dr Saeed Elahi said that federal government and Punjab government have not provided personal protective equipment (PPE) despite tall claims.

He said the prime minister, federal Adviser on Health, chief minister, Health minister and other provincial ministers were not telling the truth to the public with regard to devastations coronavirus might cause.

He urged them to fill up this gap immediately to avoid further life loss. “The disease is entering more serious second phase,” he said, adding that all medical staff should be protected immediately.

Dr Saeed Elahi also vehemently condemned the brutal torture on medical fraternity in Quetta, who were only asking for protective kits and equipment. Sanitary workers: LWMC is providing cleanliness services across the city during corona pandemic, said a press statement issued here on Monday.

It said in the line of performing their duties daily, LWMC sanitary workers are playing heroic role in facilitating the citizens with clean surroundings. These employees are involved in community wellbeing.

Famous singers and actors Yasir Akhtar and Ali Haider appealed to the citizens to support these workers by keeping their areas clean and disposing of waste properly in bins. ‘Social distancing vital to check virus spread’: In the efforts to defeat infectious diseases such as coronavirus, short-term control of epidemiological specialists and physicians has been taken into account, with precautionary measures, guidelines and professional skills. Chinese expert’s guidelines will be successful and we have to employ every issue in this regard.

This was stated by Principal Lahore General Hospital Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar while talking to the media here on Monday.

He said Chinese doctors have expressed satisfaction over timely treatment and steps taken here by the government. Prof Al-freed Zafar said that the most effective weapon against the coronavirus is social distance and that in difficult situations, avoiding contact with each other and not leaving the home without need are important tools.

Prof Al-freed said coronavirus is a new virus which is why no one has the vaccine not discovered, so make sure to follow the principle of "precaution better than cure" to protect against this deadly virus.
