Gunny bags distribution to start from 20th, says minister

LAHORE :Punjab Minister for Women Development Department Ashifa Riaz on Monday visited wheat purchase centres in Toba Tek Singh.

According to the official sources here, Toba Tek Singh Deputy Commissioner Amna Munir accompanied the minister during the visit. The minister said that application with regard to gunny bags would be received from April 15 whereas gunny bags would be provided from April 20. She said that complete transparency would be ensured in the provision of gunny bags.

She directed the authorities concerned to ensure all arrangements for the facility of farmers at wheat purchase centres. DC Amna Munir said that seven purchase centres had been set up in the district. It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Mehar Muhammad Aslam Bharwana also visited Chiniot and reviewed the arrangements regarding wheat procurement process.

Chohan: Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has said that the provincial government will win the war against Covid-19 pandemic through collective efforts of the general public, medics, law-enforcement agencies and friends. Talking to APP here Monday, he said the people’s role in fighting the deadly virus was crucial, adding that people must follow the government guidelines of washing hands with soap, maintaining social distancing and staying home till April 14.

The role of the medical professionals has been recognised globally as the first-line of defence, he said adding that the nation owed to doctors and paramedical staff. To a query, the provincial minister said the Punjab government was utilising all resources to combat Covid-19 pandemic, adding that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was committed to eliminate the treacherous enemy.

To another query, he said the Chinese health experts' visit would benefit Pakistan a lot. The minister urged the opposition leaders -- Shahbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Fazlur Rehman to deposit some million rupees in the Prime Minister.
