LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars gave up the match in final overs after dominating for long as Islamabad United successfully chased a big total to secure their second successive victory in three matches in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday night.
As happened in previous editions, Lahore Qalandars again are proving to be unfortunate losing both their matches they so far played in this tournament.
Chasing 183, the United completed their most sensational one-wicket victory with just one ball remaining.
However, their experienced cricketer Mohammad Hafeez failed to complete his maiden hundred in PSL and remained not out on 98.
He smashed seven sixes and hit as many fours during his 57-ball innings.
Earlier, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and decided to bowl first in the seventh match of the Pakistan Super League – 2020.
Lahore Qalandars, the hosts, are playing their second match of the fifth edition in the tournament after they lost their first encounter to Multan Sultans by five wickets at their home ground on Friday.
On the other hand, Islamabad United have already played two matches – losing the first by three wickets to Quetta Gladiators on the opening day at Karachi and winning the second by a big margin of eight wickets against Multan Sultans at Lahore on Saturday. They have earned two points while Lahore Qalandars could not get any point so far.
