LAHORE:Government College University (GCU) has introduced a biometric attendance system on a trial basis for intermediate students.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi stated this while addressing the faculty of intermediate studies at the university’s Faiz Seminar Hall. The GCU faculty deans and the intermediate studies director were also present.
Talking about equality of opportunities for boys and girls, he pledged to open intermediate admissions for girls very soon. He also advised the authorities concerned to start preparation classes of MCAT/ECAT for the GCU second year students.
Prof Zaidi also formed a five-member oversight committee to ensure quality of education and minimum 75 per cent attendance of students as per the regulations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore.
The VC said that in pursuit of excellence in research and higher studies, GCU would wish to retain its focus on its intermediate section where it received only top merit students from all over Pakistan.
He said that a biometric attendance system was introduced on trial basis in an English class and it would be expanded in phases to all classes of intermediate.
The VC directed the intermediate studies director to start a monthly test system for the final exams preparations. He also listened to the challenges and problems faced by the teachers of intermediate classes and issued orders to solve them.
PU schedule: Punjab University (PU) has issued the schedule for submission of admission forms and fee for Associate Degree Arts/Science and BA/BSc Annual Examination 2020.
The last date of submission of admission forms for Associate Degree in Arts/Science Part-I (for the candidates who passed Intermediate Examination in Supplementary Examination 2019), Associate Degree in Science, Special Categories (MBBS, BDS, Pharm-D, and General Nursing) and BA/BSc (Composite/Improve Division) is Feb 12, 2020 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till Feb 17.
British Council: A delegation of British Council, Lahore, led by its Security Head Mrs Debbie Nathoo called on DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed on Tuesday. Kristian Sharpless, Simon Shirley and Senior Security Manager Captain® Shakeelur Rehman were included in the delegation. Security matters related to British Council were discussed in the meeting.
The DIG said police were ensuring all possible measures to provide comprehensive security to the foreign offices in the provincial capital, including British Council. He informed Ms Debbie Nathoo regarding the initiatives of LahorePolice Operations Wing to enhance capacity building of the force, introducing result oriented reforms to improve the working of the force.
