Islamabad:The Federal Directorate of Education has planned to put its all records online within two months.
“We have taken some steps recently to improve working of FDE and how we process requests and matters of the employees. An e-office has been introduced in the FDE and almost 60% of files have been scanned. In two months, 100% records will be online. In the next step, we will connect our institutions with the system,” FDE Director General Syed Umair Javed told reporters.
Javed said in order to improve working at both FDE and educational institutions, the FDE had put in place visitor timings so that everyone could focus on school and office work in first half of the work hours and personal issues in the second half (2pm-5pm).
Public dealing throughout the day leaves little time for staff at FDE to work. Everyone is welcome at FDE for official work anytime.
The FDE is finalizing an HR management system with PITB which will allow automated management of leaves, NOCs, transfer posting etc. from our mobiles and computers. This means we all would have more time to focus on the actual objective which is to provide quality education to the public.
We are also working to create a central online admission system which will allow students and institutions to get admissions and placements with transparency and reduce the number of hours principals and teachers have to spend on admission related tasks.
APP ADDS: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to introduce online short courses for the capacity building and improvement of the professional capabilities of teaching faculty.
Official sources told this agency that courses were being introduced especially for the teaching faculties of around 424 schools, colleges of the federal capital working under FDE.
They said a circular has been sent to the heads of public sector educational institutions as well as to the Area Education Officers (AEOs) of the Islamabad Capital Territory with the approval of Director General FDE. Among others, the courses related to the Holy Quran were also included in the curriculum, they added. Students would also be allowed to take benefit from these courses, sources informed. According to the circular, it was stated that online courses were need of the hour to enhance professional skills and techniques of teachers while using modern technologies so that they could be able to resolve the current challenges.
These programmes would be offered under Distance Education System for which the teachers will have to register themselves online to take benefit from the courses , they added. These free courses, they said, would be provided through the best universities across the globe while utilizing online services. The students of the government schools, colleges of Islamabad would be provided access to these courses being implemented in world’s best universities. The various links of online courses had also provided in the circular.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has decided to start evening shifts for secondary classes at all primary schools of the rural areas working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). Sources told this agency, the federal capital’s government schools in the rural areas were facing lack of classrooms to accommodate the increasing number secondary level students.
However, to reduce drop out of school students, the ministry would start evening shifts to meet shortage of class rooms and more schools in the Islamabad.
They said the step was taken as the federal capital had more primary schools than the secondary level educational institutions that had limited admission capacity whereas the second time shifts would help address the issue. Around 50 percent students were unable to get admission in the secondary classes after passing the primary due to non-availability of admissions especially in the rural areas. Classes would be launched in next academic session, he added.
