LAHORE:Many cases of murder, suicide, robbery, theft, firing in the air and fake FIRs were reported in the City from January 12 to 18, 2020.
Dolphin officials shot at a shopkeeper and the Islampura police ironically registered a fake FIR to save the officials. The fake FIR was registered on the complaint of Islampura SHO Tariq.
The registration of a fake case at Islampura police station has shocked many people who believe that CCPO Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed and DIG Operations Babar Saeed are scrupulous and honest officers and they will never spare such black sheep who defile the repute of the Punjab police by abusing their power, misleading the officers and committing unlawful acts.
Two robbers came to the pan shop of Abdul Waheed and started looting the customers besides holding the shopkeeper hostage at gunpoint. Abdul Waheed offered resistance upon which the robbers managed to escape leaving their weapons and a bike on the spot. As per police, the shopkeeper almost got mad and started aerial firing. He further pointed the gun at the Dolphin officials who in self-defence wounded him after several warnings. While, the fact was the Dolphin officials presumed the shopkeeper carrying a gun to be a robber and opened fire. It was further learnt that one of the two robbers was shot and wounded on their way back by a security guard. Police teams had been checking the government and private hospitals and clinics to nab the culprits, but to no avail.
From January 12 to 18, four murders were committed, a woman died of excessive use of liquor, a man lost his life in a robbery-cum-murder, a man committed suicide, a woman attempted to kill her illegitimate baby, four people were killed in road accidents, two men were found dead, a robber was killed by the police and a man was fished out from BRB canal.
On Jan 12, the body of a man was fished out from BRB canal. Some passersby spotted the body of a man floating in the BRB canal near Havelli Gharbas and informed the police.
On Jan 14, an old man was killed by a speeding motorcycle on Canal Road Mughalpura. The victim, yet to be identified, was crossing Canal Road when a rashly driven bike hit him, resulting into serious injuries to him. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A woman gave birth to a baby in the washroom of Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and later threw her in the water tank. However, a female sweeper spotted the woman while throwing the baby in the water tank and raised alarm. Upon which, the baby was timely pulled out from the water tank and admitted to the hospital nursery with stable condition. Gujarpura police registered a case against the woman identified as Mehvish who wanted to dispose of her illegitimate baby to conceal her sin.
A 22-year-old youth was bricked to death by unidentified persons at his flat in Garhi Shahu area. Police killed a robber in Lower Mall area, while his accomplice managed to escape. The two robbers had broken into a bakery in Lower Mall area.
On Jan 15, a 24-year-old bike rider was killed by a speeding car in Quaid-e-Azam Industrial area.
The victim was identified as Abdul Subhan. It was reported that the bike rider Abdul Subhan was on his way when a rashly driven car hit him, as a result he received serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A man committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Sattukatla area. The deceased was identified as Riaz. It was reported that some unknown domestic issues had forced the man Riaz to end his life.
The death toll under the head of “Robbery cum Murder” rose to four on January 15, 2020, as another citizen was gunned down in a broad daylight in Manga Mandi area.
The robbers gunned down an old citizen and looted Rs 5 lakh in cash in Manga Mandi area. The victim was identified as Hafeez-ur-Rehman. The victim withdrew Rs 5 lakh from a local bank and was on his way back in a private van when some robbers intercepted the vehicle and made the victim Hafeez hostage at gunpoint. Hafeez offered resistance, upon which the robbers shot and wounded him and took away cash Rs 5 lakhs. The injured Hafeez was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced brought dead.
On Jan 16, a woman died of excessive use of liquor in South Cantt area. The deceased was identified as Hina. She, under the influence of liquor came to the house of her relatives and slept there. In the morning, the house inmates found her lying dead and informed the police.
A 30-year-old woman was found dead in the limits of Mughalpura police. The woman, yet to be identified, was spotted lying dead on the heap of garbage in the jurisdiction of Mughalpura police. It was suspected that the victim was apparently strangled to death and later her body was thrown on the trash heap. The body bore no marks of torture, police observed.
A railway employee died after he accidentally got trapped in a machine at Railway Carriage Workshop. Upon being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene and started rescue operation. However, the man identified as Maulvi Javed was already dead by the time the rescuers arrived at the spot. The body was extricating from the machine after hectic efforts.
Two men, yet to be identified, were found dead in the limits of Data Darbar. On Jan 17, postmortem report of a 14-year-old boy, who was recovered from the limits of Nishtar Colony police on Jan 11, revealed that the victim was sodomized before being killed.
The deceased was identified as Adeel, son of Ghulam Haider of Al-Mustafa Colony Kot Lakhpat. The victim went to a local mosque on January 9, but did not turn up. On the day of incident, some passersby spotted the tortured body of the victim and informed the police. A ten-year-old boy was killed by a speeding rickshaw in the limits of Gujarpura. The victim identified as Yasar served in a house as a servant. He was crossing road when a rashly driven rickshaw hit him, resulting into his death.
On Jan 18, a 30-year-old man was shot dead by his opponents in front of his house in Qureshi Muhalla Mozang.
The victim was identified as Alyas alias Alaichi. killer Atif, son of Haneefa Paiwala, along with five accomplices approached the victim and shot and wounded him. Injured Alyas was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Accused Atif had nursed grudge against the victim who fired shots at his shop on January 3, 2020. Police registered a murder case on the complaint of the victim’s brother Muhammad Shahbaz.
A man expired in a local hospital on Saturday, 47 days after he was badly tortured by a shopkeeper and his accomplices in Nawab Town area.
The victim identified as Zohaib hailed from Joray Pul North Cantt and ran a butcher shop in Nawab Town. The accused Abid, who worked at a general store, had nursed grudge against the victim after an exchange of hot words over a minor issue, though the matter was resolved by the elders. However, the accused Abid along with at least 35 accomplices armed with sticks and sharp edged weapons caught the victim and subjected him to severe torture on December 2nd, 2019. The injured Zohaib was admitted to a local hospital and later discharged. However, Zohaib’s condition went critical today. He was taken to a local hospital where he expired. Nawab Town police converted the Section 324 PPC into 302 PPC.
From January 5 to 11, at least ten persons were murdered, a man died of excessive use of drugs, 13 persons were injured in five different fire related incidents, six unidentified bodies were recovered, three died in a roof collapse, a man died after being hit by a train, a man committed suicide after killing his ex-wife, and five persons lost their lives in different accidents.
From Jan 1 to 4, three persons committed suicide, one lost his life over an old enmity, two died of cold weather, one lost his life while taking a selfie from the rooftop of a building, a security guard was killed by robbers, two men’s naked bodies were found inside a house, four died of smoke inhalation, a woman died of burns, a woman was stabbed to death by her husband and brother-in-law, a mother of four children committed suicide by hanging herself, a 21-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, a 30-year-old man was found dead in a washroom of a mosque, a manual labourer died after he accidentally got trapped in a concrete mixer machine, a body of an addict was found, and a 13-year-old girl expired in a local hospital on Jan 3, after a stray bullet pierced into her skull in Misri Shah area on the eve of the New Year Night.
