A tribute to artists

LAHORE:The Alhamra Arts Council paid a glorious tribute to legendary artists in the field of music by displaying their photographs in the classrooms of the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts on Tuesday.

The Pakistan music industry has produced many great musicians and singers who devoted their lives to promote music. Among the great artists who won laurels for the country at national and international level, included Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, Ustaad Amanat Ali Khan, Roshan Aara Begum, Mehdi Hassan, Malika Pukhrat, Abida Parveen, Alan Faqeer, Alam Lohar, Madam Noor Jahan, Zahida Parveen, Iqbal Banu, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Pathanay Khan, Reshmaan, Allah Rakha, Fateh Ali Khan and many others.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said that civilised nations always remembered their national heroes and also promoted cultural activities. He called the effort an important step towards remembering Pakistan’s national icons.

He said that the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts had always acknowledged the services of artists and paid tribute to them in different ways. Now the LAC has displayed photographs of the legendary singers who were very prominent in the field of music at national and international level, he added. People from different walks of life appreciated the efforts for the promotion of art and culture.
