Islamabad:The Sub-committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services resented the failure of some pharmaceutical companies to reduce prices despite the cabinet's decision and called their representatives to its next meeting for explanation.

The committee, which met with convener Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema in the chair, also asked the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan to crack down on drug overpricing through an active surveillance system.

The chair flayed some pharmaceutical companies for not following the DRAP-approved drug prices. The DRAP officials informed the committee members about drug prices and registration of new pharmaceutical companies and medicines.
