Modi advancing RSS mission: governor

LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said Narendra Modi is advancing on the mission of RSS.

Pakistan is always in favour of peace and we are uprooting the menace of terrorism and extremism. Pakistan is getting stronger and prosperous because of effective policies of the government, said the governor while addressing the closing session of Maritime Security Workshop-2019 and inaugural ceremony of Maritime Centre of Excellence here at Pakistan Navy War College on Thursday.

On this occasion, Vice Admiral Muhammad Fiaz Gilani, Rear Admiral Muhammad Zubair, PML-N Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, PPP Senator Sassi Paleju, PTI MNA Amjad Ali Khan and others were also present.

Governor Muhammad Sarwar on the occasion said that inauguration of Maritime Centre of Excellence is a matter of pride for him. “Pakistan’s geo-strategic location is very important and keeping in view the international trade, we have to focus on blue economy. Allah Almighty has blessed Pakistan with very vast marine time and 95 per cent of Pakistan’s trade with world is done through sea route," said Sarwar.

Today, he said, we had also to pay greater attention towards fish farming along the coastal line besides promoting the coastal tourism, and through these means, Pakistan can earn billions of rupees annually.

Tourism is also being promoted as Pakistan can earn US $ 4 to 5 billion from this sector every year. Pakistan is currently faced with numerous challenges however all the security agencies jointly get the enemies of Pakistan lick the dust. Today Pakistan has become peaceful country and is getting stronger on economic front with every passing day, he said. Later, the governor participated in a seminar organised by Evacuee Trust Property Board here at Punjab University. Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, ETPB Chairman Dr Aamir Ahmed, Indian scholars Dr Namdar, Dr Vind Kumar, Dr Sooraj Parakash and other attended the seminar. In his address, the governor said despite tense situation with India, Pakistan completed Kartarpur Corridor Project which proved the fact that ‘we always stood with minorities, but unfortunately the minorities in India are not safe by any aspect.’ Narendra Modi must realize the fact that he cannot strengthen and prosper India by suppressing minority communities. The dream of regional peace cannot come true as long as Kashmir issue is resolved and India ensures rights of its minorities. Time has come that Narendra Modi should get to his size and stop his tyrannical moves, the governor said.

He was addressing an international conference on Dr BR Ambedkar jointly organised by Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies and Ambedkar Society for South Asia at the university here on Thursday.

The governor said Prime Minister Imran Khan was promoting the message of equality and the same message was presented by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his first speech after creation of Pakistan. He said Dr BR Ambedkar lived his whole life fighting for the rights of suppressed and the poor people of India. He said Dr Ambedkar made historical efforts for social justice and equality in society. He said provision of complete freedom and rights to minorities was top priority of the government. He said no country could progress without contribution and active participation of minorities and prosperity of depressed people.

Ch Sarwar said he had strictly instructed the Vice Chancellors (VCs) of all universities to implement five percent job quota for minorities as they were also our children.
