Opp misleading nation on economy: Sarwar

LAHORE :Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said the PTI government would bring about economic revolution in the country.

Opposition is resorting to misleading and negative propaganda on the national economy just for its personal and political gains but the nation will not be hoodwinked by it anymore, the Punjab governor said, adding that a huge investment from Russia and China was the manifestation of their confidence in the policies of the government.

He was talking to a delegation of ‘Sach’ film led by Pakistan-born British national and former member of the UK Parliament Tasmina Sheikh and Director Zulfiqar Sheikh along with movie cast, including Actress Alizee Shaikh, Asad Zaman Khan, Ayesha Sana, at Governor’s House on Tuesday.

MPA Sadia Sohail, MPA Musarat Jamshed Cheema, Actor Naseem Viki and Cultural Journalist Foundation Secretary General Thakur Lahori were also present. The Punjab governor said that more than US $ 10 billion investment by Russia and announcement regarding duty-free access of 313 Pakistani products to Chinese markets from January 1, 2020 was yet another biggest achievement of PTI government on the economic front.

Undoubtedly, China and other countries of the world are making investments in Pakistan as they have not only complete protection of their investments here but also being provided with best facilities. Pakistan is getting stronger economically with every passing day, while international financial institutions are also appreciating the government’s policies, Muhammad Sarward said.

He said the overseas Pakistanis had an important role in the economic development of Pakistan and they were the country’s great asset, adding that in order to resolve their problems, federal and Punjab governments were taking measures on urgent basis through Overseas Pakistanis Commission.

climate change: Punjab Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak has said that climate change is adversely affecting agriculture and livestock sectors by reducing their production and we need to develop an integrated strategy for combating the negative effects of changing environments.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Climate Change Awareness Centre set up by Punjab University’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) here Tuesday. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, IAGS Director Prof Dr Saleem Haider, faculty members and a number of students participated in the ceremony.

In his address, Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak said there were many solutions to agriculture and livestock sectors to control environmental pollution but these were not economically viable for our local farmers.

Prof Niaz Ahmad suggested the establishment of an integrated centre consisting of experts from environmental, biological, engineering and agricultural sciences to cope with climate challenges. He said the use of chemicals in agriculture was contaminating underground water, food and environment. He said emissions of various gases were destroying the ozone layer.
