Alhamra Art Museum to open whole week

Lahore:It has been decided to open the Alhamra Art Museum to the public for seven days a week instead of five days for serving and promoting the arts.

Lahore Art Council Executive Director Athar Ali Khan said that the Alhamra Art Museum was an important institution where 300 artworks of 118 world-renowned artists had been displayed, reflecting the thousand years old civilisation.

He said the museum served as a hub for art lovers, and it had been working hard to restore nine rare artworks to their original form. The artists whose paintings have been restored included Anna Molka Ahmed, Colin David, Moin Najmi, Ghulam Rasool, Mehmood Butt, Ahmed Shahbaz, Salima Hashmi and Mian Ijaz-ul-Hassan. The museum is also adorned with exceptional artworks of artists such as Jimmy Engineer, Merry Katrina, Kamil Khan, Mumtaz, Anna Molka Ahmed, Saeed Akhtar and Khalid Iqbal.

The museum will remain open for seven days a week for those who love art and have a passion for learning. All the colleges and universities have been invited to visit Alhamra Art Museum on a regular basis for the benefit of the students. Instructions have also been issued for organising artist talk shows and workshops the museum for the arts students.
