Contract employees to be regularised: minister

LAHORE:Federal Minister Omar Ayub has said that service of contract employees will be regularised and new hands will be recruited to meet requirement of rising quantum of work at the earliest.

The minister assured them that the PM would be apprised of the demands of electricity employees not to privatise profitable electricity entities of Islamabad and Lahore electric companies and 747MW Combined Circle Thermal Power Station, Guddu. The minister gave these assurances to the delegation of All Pakistan Wapda Hydroelectric Workers Union (CBA) on Wednesday. He assured the workers that service of contract employees would be regularised and new hands would be recruited to meet requirement of rising quantum of work at the earliest.

The delegation highlighted that the employees of electricity distribution companies had recovered outstanding money from defaulters worth Rs121 billion and prevented electricity theft/line losses at the risk of their lives. The delegation was led by veteran trade union leader Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the Union, accompanied by Abdul Latif Nizamani President, Haji Ramzan Achakzai Joint President and other representatives.

A walk was held in Children’s Complex on 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on Wednesday, November 20, observed as World Children’s Day. The participants demanded that all the laws related to children be implemented in letter and spirit.

CP&WB: The Child Protection & Welfare Bureau celebrated Universal Children’s Day at the Lahore bureau. “Rights of every child must be protected and every child whether rich or poor must be treated with love and affection,” said Chairperson CP &WB Sarah Ahmad. Actor Ahsan Khan spoke on child abuse and singer Ali Zafar won everyone’s hearts by his performance.
