Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday ordered a crackdown on those selling substandard and cheap Iranian coal-tar for the construction of roads and directed that indiscriminate action should be taken under the law against such elements while vigorous action should also be taken against those smuggling Iranian coal-tar.
He said no leniency will be shown to those using substandard and cheap Iranian coal-tar in the construction of roads and a stern action will be taken against them under the law after registration of cases.
In the light of the instructions issued by the government, Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad Mushtaq Ahmed while taking action, sealed six godowns in the area of Tarnoal, Islamabad selling substandard and cheap Iranian coal-tar and confiscated hundreds of drums of Iranian coal-tar while cases were registered and the owners of the six godowns have been arrested and further action is continuing.
The CM appreciated the performance of Mushtaq Ahmed. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad met the CM and informed him about the action taken against those selling substandard and cheap Iran coal-tar.
The CM said the use of substandard and cheap coal-tar will not be tolerated in the construction and repair of roads and no compromise will be made on the standard and transparency of projects. He said besides timely completion of projects, transparency and high standard in the completion of projects is a hallmark of the Punjab government, therefore, no one can be allowed to use substandard construction material while law will immediately come into action in this regard. He said that those selling and using substandard construction material should be behind the bars and action will be continued against the elements selling or using substandard coal-tar or material. Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the arrival of Ramazan and said Ramazan is the month of earning the blessings of Allah Almighty through prayers and worship.
In a message on the arrival of Ramazan, the CM said that this month gives a message of sacrifice and we should pay maximum attention to the welfare of our deserving brethren and sisters.
He said the government has announced historic Ramazan Package of Rs 3.5 billion for the provision of flour to the masses at cheaper rate during Ramazan while flour, ghee, sugar, fruits, vegetables and pulses will also be available at concessionary rates in Ramazan Bazaars.
Ramazan: On the directives of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, 331 Sastay Ramazan and model bazaars have been set up for providing special relief to people during Ramazan throughout the province where quality items will be available at cheaper rates than the market.
Shahbaz Sharif will personally monitor Ramazan bazaars for ensuring sale of items at fixed prices and instructions have been issued to the departments concerned, district administrations and other officers concerned of the province. DCOs of all districts will personally supervise the process of auctioning of items in the markets and submit reports daily.
