School enrolment to be monitored

LAHORE : A meeting of CEOs of provincial district education authorities (DEAs) has discussed the ongoing enrolment campaign in schools, ongoing reforms programme and other recent initiatives. Punjab Minister for School Education Murad Raas presided over the meeting.

The minister, speaking on the occasion, said the enrolment campaign across the province would be monitored via tech-based School Information System (SIS). In order to ensure public participation in the campaign, help would also be sought from school councils, parents and religious scholars, he added.

Murad said steps were being taken regarding transparent postings/ transfers of the teachers and added government was committed to achieve the desired goal of provision of quality education to the children at all levels across the province.

He said the department would apprise the parents about enrolment at the time of polio vaccination. All stakeholders, including teachers’ union and private school’s association, would also be taken on board to uplift the quality of education in the province.

School Education Department Secretary Capt (R) Muhammad Mehmood, department officials, heads of affiliated bodies, representatives from teachers’ union and private schools’ association, education-sector NGOs and CEOs of all districts of the province attended the meeting.

Awareness: An awareness seminar was organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday at the University of Engineering & Technology (UET).

NAB Additional Director Rubina spoke about different types of corruption and its prevention. She also shed light on rules and regulations of NAB and created awareness about efforts being made by NAB to eliminate corruption. Earlier, NAB Director Syed Muhammad Hasnain Ahmad and the additional director also met the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Aziz Akbar.
