The participants gathered at Nasser Bagh near the Town Hall from where they marched on The Mall towards Punjab Assembly. Carrying placards and banners they chanted slogans against the Punjab government and termed its policy anti-education and anti-students. Different associations of PEF-partner schools had joined hands to make the rally successful. The rally and subsequent demonstration outside the Punjab Assembly, where Lady Health Workers (LHWs) have also been observing a protest sit-in since Monday, caused severe traffic mess on The Mall and many adjacent roads adding to the miseries of the commuters.

One of the associations’ head Shahbaz Zaki told The News that a senior PEF official had reached the sit-in venue to hold dialogue with the demonstrators. He said the official assured to issue a notification after the meeting but the same was not issued so far. “Therefore, we are continuing our protest,” he said. It is pertinent to mention here that through a notification PEF had barred its partner schools for offering new admissions.
