Man kills friend on suspicion of mobile theft

LAHORE: A man killed his friend over the suspicion of theft of a mobile phone and later jumped down from the 5th floor, resulting in his leg fracture in the Islampura police limits on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Naeem Akhtar while the accused as Sarwar. Police reached the scene after being informed and collected forensic evidence.

Found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police limits on Tuesday.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim yet to be identified was found dead near Bird Market. Police reached the scene and rushed the victim to hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police said the victim was a drug addict and died due to excessive use of drugs.

arrested: Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff claimed to have arrested four accused and recovered 25 bikes worth Rs 1.3 million, cell phones and illegal weapons.

The accused were identified as Qamar Zaman alias Kadu, Abdul Rehman alias Munno, Shahzad Khalid and Usama Anjum. SP AVLS Atif Hayat has announced commendatory certificate for the police team.

Found hanged: A 28-year-old woman was found hanged to death in the Lytton Road police limits on Tuesday.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Sumaira Bibi, a resident of Saadi Park. Police reached the home after being informed by inmates. The victim was found hanged in the room. Police have collected evidence.

Suicide: A woman committed suicide over an unknown reason in the Nishtar Colony police limits on Tuesday.

Police have handed over the body to the victim’s family after completing legal formalities. The victim was identified as Rashida Bibi, a resident of Dolam Stop. On the day of the incident, she took poisonous pills after which her condition went critical. She was rushed to hospital where she died.

PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol impounded 10,126 vehicles having no documents and registration.

PHP launched a crackdown against non-registered vehicles and impounded 10,126 vehicles. On rash and irresponsible driving 156 cases were registered. PHP ceased 61 vehicles over fake and green registration plates. 16 were ceased in crackdown against the vehicles of sound act on the Highways.

Furthermore, PHP teams arrested 44 people on installing prohibited gas cylinders in their vehicles.

Rescue: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 941 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

11 people have died while 941 were injured in the said road accidents. Out of the injured, 541 with serious injuries were shifted to the hospitals while 400 with minor injuries were provided with the first-aid on the spot by the emergency teams.

The rescue data showed 392 drivers, 32 underage drivers,150 pedestrians and 410 passengers were among the victims of the road accidents. 218 road accidents were reported in Lahore, 74 in Faislabad and 51 in Gujranwala.

The details further showed 952 victims were affected by road accidents.

According to the data, 665 motorbikes, 142 auto-rickshaws, 89 motorcars, 56 vans, 17 passenger buses, 25 trucks and 94 other types of auto-vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road accidents.
