Directive to improve cleanliness in markets

LAHORE: Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Political Affairs Adviser to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, visited Tollinton Market and Main Market, Gulberg on Sunday to inspect cleanliness and review price list.

He showed displeasure on the cleanliness situation in Tollinton Market and non- implementation of SOPs of health department by shopkeepers. He advised the market administration to improve cleanliness arrangements and warned that he would visit again soon to review the situation and stern action would be taken against shopkeepers for violating SOPs. Talking to reporters, Ch Akram said it seemed that Lahore district administration was sleeping on the issues of child labour, cleanliness and especially rates announced by union rather than auction process. He said his mission was to make Lahore City clean as the biggest city of Punjab and in the past 57 percent funds were spent on Lahore but condition of the markets was not satisfactory; therefore, we all have to do lot of work for our children. He also said that DC and DG Food have to take stern action against those who were selling tainted food.
