fined: The City District Government Lahore continued its drive against the price-hike and fined 57 shopkeepers besides arresting many on Friday.
Officials said the special magistrates of the CDGL carried out 755 raids during which they imposed the fine of Rs 83,000 on 57 shopkeepers while 25 were arrested for overcharging. Officials said the drive would continue in the city and no one would be allowed to sell essential commodities at higher rates.
Transfers: The Punjab government has issued a notification of promotion, transfer and posting of nine officers on Friday.
Deputy Secretary Social Welfare Afzal Nasir has been promoted to BS-18 and upon promotion has been transferred and posted as deputy Director (PMU) Education Sector Reforms Program. Section Officer Schools Education Aleem Abbas has also been promoted to BS-18 and has been transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary Human Rights and Minority Affairs. Section Officer Governor Punjab Secretariat Mohammed Younas has been promoted to BS-18 and transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary Schools Education. Section Officer Finance Department Abdul Aziz Bhatti has been promoted to BS-18 and transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary Finance Department. Section Officer Local Government & Community Development Department Tahir Hussain Shah has been promoted to BS-18 and transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary Population Welfare.
Deputy Secretary Higher Education Barakullah Khan, Deputy Secretary Governor Punjab Secretariat Khadija-tul-Kubra, Deputy Secretary Health Ahmed Kamal Maan and Deputy Secretary Health Mansoor Ahmed have also been promoted to BS-18.
competition: Punjab University’s Institute of Communication Studies (ICS), in connection with the 11th anniversary of PU FM 104.6, arranged a news-casting competition on Friday.
On the second day, renowned news anchors Syeda Ayesha Naz, Zeeshan Malik and Ghulam Murtaza were the chief guests and judges on the occasion. The judges appreciated the efforts of the ICS management and PU FM 104.6 for organising the competition of news casting and producing professional newscasters. A large number of students from various departments participated in the event and showcased their skills.
ICS Incharge Director Dr Noshina Saleem said PU FM 104.6 had produced many journalists including newscasters. She said the professional training of newscasters had been a great achievement of PU FM 104.6 since its inception. After 11 years, PU FM 104.6 was still working hard to produce the professional journalists, she added. The ICS faculty members, including Amir Mehmood Bajwa, Fahad Mehmood, Shazia Toor, Seemab Far Bukhari and Shabbir Sarwar, and a large number of students were also present.
