The vice-chancellor further said that GCU had already successfully initiated 27 new programmes in the last three years, which included PhD Computer Sciences, PhD Applied Physics, PhD Islamic Studies, MPhil Applied Physics, MS Industrial Psychology, MSc Physical Education, and MS Geography. He said that scholarships, hostel accommodations, transport, laboratories, libraries, footpaths, classrooms, lecture theatres, meeting rooms, examination centres, and other facilities were also upgraded keeping in view the increasing number of students in the wake of these new programmes.
The Academic Council also approved amendments and additions to the courses of various academic programmes including MPhil Environmental Sciences, MPhil Applied Physics, BSc (Hons) Biotechnology, BSc (Hons) Microbiology, BSc (Hons) Physics, BA (Hons) Punjabi, and MS Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The vice-chancellor pledged that GCU would provide best faculty to teach the new programmes and courses. He also showed his resolve to initiate the law degree programme soon.
demonstrators: Newly appointed 19 demonstrators in grade 17 at Ameer-ud-Din Medical College affiliated with the Lahore General Hospital received their appointment letters from Chairman Board of Management, Post Graduate Medical Institute, General Retd. Zia-ud-Din Khawaja in a function held on Saturday.
Principal PGMI/LGH Prof. Anjum Habbib Vohra, faculty members Dr. Altumash, President YDA LGH Dr. Hamad Nasir, Dr. Ahmed Naeem, and parents of new staffers were also present. Newly appointed demonstrators include 14 female and five male members.
Addressing the participants, General (Retd) Zia-ud-Din Khawaja stressed the newcomers to play their due role in polishing the talent of medical students. He said that our country was in a dire need of able and efficient doctors. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif for his relentless struggle to improve the health sector terming it his first priority.
He said he rightly expected from the new demonstrators to train students by becoming role models themselves for them. He said that contrary to the past, BoM itself had distributed appointment letters to successful candidates so as to maintain their self-respect and save them from unnecessary visits to the clerk offices.
In his address, Prof. Anjum Habib Vohra said the nature of the job of employees of the health sector was different to others as their service became a source of success both in this world and hereafter for them. He hoped the new appointments would improve the standard of the institution’s services and students would be the beneficiaries of these recruitments.
