Seminar on Halal food safety

LAHORE: Punjab University’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) organised a seminar titled “Current Trends in Halal Food Safety Assurance: Issues and Challenges” here on Thursday.

According to a press release, the speakers emphasised and reached consensus that due to the growing market of Halal food, estimated at Rs 5.4 trillion, there should be a global and universal regulations and standards for the Halal food.

An exhibition was also held by the undergraduate students of food technology which displayed some innovative kinds of foods. The faculty members, the representatives from Punjab Food Authority and different industries and students from different private and public universities attended the event.
