‘Solid steps taken for women empowerment’

PROVINCIAL Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said the Punjab government attaches due importance to the economic empowerment of women and solid measures are being taken for bringing them into the national mainstream.
She said this while addressing a certificate distributing ceremony for 375 women who had completed training in various skills with the assistance of the Punjab Skill Development Fund arranged by the Kashf Foundation on Wednesday. Punjab Skill Development Fund’s Zohaib Hassan, Managing Director Kashf Foundation Roshane Zafar, Director Vocational Training Centre Sajid Naseer and a large number of skilled women were also present.
Roshane Zafar threw light on the aims and objectives of the Kashf Foundation and also appreciated the cooperation of the Punjab government.
The provincial minister said the women should acquire training in different skills and crafts as it would not only help in their economic empowerment but also enable them to play an important role in the progress and development of the country. She said that in the second phase of the training programme with the cooperation of the Punjab Skills Development Fund, about 378 more women would be imparted training. She said the Punjab government had taken revolutionary measures for the empowerment of women under the Women Packages 2012 and 2014 which would benefit women at every level.
Later, the minister witnessed an exhibition of items made by the skilled women and lauded their talent.
