LAHORE
A division bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan Friday issued notice to the federal government for its reply by May 20 after admitting for regular hearing an intra-court appeal seeking trial of prime minister under Article 6 of the Constitution.
The court was holding proceedings on appeal of Sayed Iqtidar Haider. The petitioner submitted that the prime minister appointed his daughter Mariam Nawaz as chairperson of Youth Loan Scheme against the rules. He said on the orders of the court, Mariam had to leave this seat. He said her name on her national identity card was Mariam Safdar but on notification of her appointment her name was mentioned as Mariam Nawaz.
He said the PM misused his powers in violation of his Constitutional oath. He said for this violation, the PM should be tried under article 6 of the Constitution.
The petitioner had filed this appeal against the order of dismissal of his petition by a single bench of the LHC.
