Last week, Rangers had killed four suspected gangsters in Lyari. In Bihar Colony, the paramilitary force killed Sohail alias Khof and Shahryar alias Sherry. They were members of the Baba Ladla gang. They were wanted in many cases of murder, robberies and extortion.
Later, they killed two more suspects in an encounter in Nawa Lane area of Kalakot. They were identified as Mukhtiar and Arif alias Mama Punjabi, both members of the Uzair Baloch gang.
On Thursday, police had killed a member of the Wasiullah Lakho gang who involved in kidnapping for ransom cases.
Earlier last month, a notorious gangster, Tauseef alias Bakri, wanted by the police in cases of target killing was gunned down in Kalri area after a shootout with the law enforcers.
According to the Lyari Division police, a police mobile of the Kalri police station had been patrolling the area when its personnel were informed of the presence of Sheeraz Comrade and his associates in Gali no 4 of Daryabad area of Lyari.
A police team arrived there where it was attacked by gangsters. The policemen retaliated and in the ensuring shootout one gangster was arrested in injured condition while Sheeraz Comrade and his associates fled.
The injured gangster, identified as Tauseef alias Bakri, was shifted to Civil hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Road mishaps claim 3 lives
Three people were killed and two others, including a woman, were injured in separate mishaps on Sunday.
Twenty-six-year-old Murtaza and his relative Zeeshan, 40, died while Mehmoona, 40, and 25-year-old Zubair were injured when their car collided with a speeding trailer on Super Highway, within Gadap city police limits, while they were on their way back to the city from Hyderabad.
The deceased and the injured were shifted to Baqai Hospital for post-mortem examination and treatment, respectively.
In Qasba Colony, 45-year-old Fazal Kareem died after a heavy brick fell on his head while he was sitting outside his residence.
Body found
A bullet-riddled body of an unidentified man appearing to be around 35 years of age was found near the Northern Bypass, situated within the jurisdiction of Mochko police.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities.
According to the MLO, the body bore torture marks and police suspect the man was a kidnapping victim.
