A court has sentenced a man to three years in prison for sexually abusing a minor boy. Touqeer Hussain was found guilty of assaulting an eight-year-old boy within the jurisdiction of the Mochko police station in 2021.

Additional Sessions Judge Irshad Hussain of the Gender-Based Violence Court (West) pronounced his order after recording evidence and final arguments from both the defence and prosecution sides.

He ruled that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing the charge against the accused beyond any shadow of doubt and sentenced him to three-year imprisonment. The convict was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs100,000 and in case of default, he would have to undergo an additional three-month imprisonment.

The judge said the accused was entitled to the benefit of the Section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), under which the period of his detention since his arrest would be counted towards his prison term.

The accused appeared in court via video link from the central prison. According to the prosecution, Hussain subjected the minor boy to sexual abuse within the Mochko police remits in 2021. It said there was sufficient evidence to link the accused with the commission of the heinous offence, requesting the judge to convict him.

Meanwhile, the defence counsel contended that his client was falsely implicated in the case, requesting the judge to acquit him. An FIR was lodged under the section 377-B (unnatural offence) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Mochko police station.
