A young man was shot dead for offering resistance during a mugging bid in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Saturday evening.
According to initial reports, the incident took place in Gulshan Block 7 within the limits of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station.
Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the crime scene and transported the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the deceased person was identified as 27-year-old Irtaqa, son of Nadeem.
Citing initial investigations, police said the incident took place during a robbery bid. Two suspects on a motorcycle were responsible for the firing who escaped following the incident.
Police said they were trying to obtain CCTV footage to help trace the suspects. No case had been registered when this story was filed.
