Vice Chairperson, OPC, Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said Asrar Ahmad, settled in Harrow, United Kingdom, filed a complaint that some people have occupied his 1-kanal plot in village Samdani, Tehsil Sadiqabad, District Rahimyar Khan. The complaint was referred to District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Rahimyar Khan and with the help of members of DOPC and local police, the Overseas Pakistani got back possession of his land. Shaheen Khalid Butt and Afzaal Bhatti said due to the intervention of OPC, thousands of complaints of expatriate Pakistanis have been settled.
RESCUE 1122: Director General, Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122), Dr Rizwan Naseer carried out a performance review of emergency operations during the month of November in all 36 districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standards of the service & smooth emergency services delivery without any discrimination.
He said the emergency data showed that average 700 (33pc of total emergencies) road traffic crashes are taking place daily in Punjab; therefore, all District Emergency Officers are directed to chalk out plans to educate citizens through awareness campaigns in their respective districts to adopt preventive measures to avoid road traffic crashes. The emergency data showed that 72,155 victims of different emergencies were rescued by the service while conducting 67,216 rescue operations in last month all over the Punjab, with average response time of 7 minutes.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 23,495 road traffic accidents, 33,805 medical emergencies, 977 fire incidents, 1,435 crimes, 39 drowning incidents, 42 building collapses and 7,417 miscellaneous operations.
According to the statistics, majority of fire incidents occurred in major cities, including 201 fires in Lahore, 87 in Faisalabad, 68 in Rawalpindi, 55 in Multan, 71 in Gujranwala and 41 in Sialkot. Similarly, 5931 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 1236 in Gujranwala, 1805 in Faisalabad, 1753 in Multan and 838 in Bahawalpur.
