UET convocation: Collective wisdom needed to meet challenges: Ahsan

LAHORE :Interior Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said Pakistan is facing many complicated challenges which can be met through collective wisdom and long-term decisions with latest skills and comprehensive strategies.
He was addressing the 24th convocation of University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, that was held on Thursday at main auditorium of the university. Interior Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal was the guest of honour while Provincial Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani was chief guest.
According to a handout, addressing the faculty, students and their parents, Prof Ahsan Iqbal said that for career building talent of youths must be channelised in optimal way. The government has initiated many projects to engage youths in different projects. Pakistan is facing many complicated challenges which can be met through collective wisdom and long-term decisions with latest skills and comprehensive strategies.
Congratulating the graduates, he admired the role of UET in developing Pakistan by producing renowned professionals. Punjab Minister for Higher Education said the graduates needed to learn more techniques to contribute through CPEC at large. He also focused on empowering women by educating and providing opportunities to them to put their potential in practice.
Vice-Chancellor of UET Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said the universities play a vital role in building a nation on scientific base with the help of result-oriented research and other ways of learning.
In the convocation, more than 2,233 degrees, including 22 PhDs, 557 MPhil and MSc, 1,654 BSc were conferred on graduates and postgraduates. Study room: The University of Punjab Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir on Thursday laid the foundation of a study room at girl’s hostel number 9.
