MoU signed to set up PU campus in Dubai

LAHORE: Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) and Professionals & Accountancy Centre (PAC) established under Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA Dubai) have signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of PU campus in Dubai and jointly organise training and competency development programme.

According to a press release, an MoU signing ceremony was organised in committee room of Vice Chancellor’s office on Thursday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Principal Hailey College of Banking and Finance Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan, PAC Dubai Chairman Jamil Qureshi, President Mian Ahmad Farhan, Akida Consulting Head Haider Zaidi, PU External Linkages Director Dr Fouzia Hadi Ali and faculty members were present.

As per the MoU, PAC Dubai would provide support and facilitation to HCBF to prepare a plan for establishment of PU campus in Dubai. Both the parties would jointly organise capacity building seminars, workshops, etc. in accordance with requirements of various industries, entities, professions etc.

Hailey College of Banking & Finance and Professionals & Accountancy Centre would also collaborate for establishing a database to promote employment of HCBF graduates in Pakistan and abroad.

reference: A condolence reference was held at Government College University Lahore on Thursday to pay tribute to Dr Jaffer Hussain, in charge of Statistics Department, who passed away last week at the age of 42.

Dr Hussain, who was also awarded doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree in Statistics last year from GCU, left behind a widow and two children. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU deans Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan, Prof Dr Tahir Kamran, Prof Dr Iqbal Shah and Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed, all senior faculty members and staff of the university and the deceased's family attended the condolence reference.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said Dr Jaffer Hussain was an honest, dedicated and hardworking teacher and colleague, and his services for the university would always be remembered.

He said void created by his demise in the Statistics Department could never be filled. “I tender my sincere sympathy to his children who had lost their father, who was an honest and highly valuable person, at a very tender age. I wish them success in life, and our doors are always open for them for every kind of help, assistance or guidance,” the VC said.

The reference was also addressed by Prof Dr Sultan Shah and Prof Inam-ul-Haq. Special prayers were offered for late departed soul on the occasion. Prof Inam-ul-Haq highlighted the different aspects of Dr Jaffer Hussain's life, and his noble character as a teacher, father, brother and friend.

reshuffled: The Punjab government reshuffled 11 officers and in this regard Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued a notification on Thursday. According to the notification, Director Land Record Board of Revenue Asif Iqbal and Secretary Board of Revenue (BoR) Liaqat Ali Bhatti have replaced each other. Deputy Secretary Schools Education Umar Asad, Additional Commissioner Coordination Rawalpindi Tariq Mahmood and Deputy Director Overseas Pakistanis Rubi Ch have been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD), while order of Additional Programme Director (PMU) Education Sector Reforms Programme has been withdrawn.

Meanwhile Deputy Secretary Cabinet Tariq Salim has been transferred and posted as ADCG Rawalpindi, Ali Shahzad (awaiting posting) as Deputy Secretary Cabinet, Additional Commissioner Finance & Planning Khanewal as ADCG Khanewal vice Iftikhar Ali already transferred and posted as additional commissioner (F&P) Khanewal and Rizwan Nazir (awaiting posting) as Deputy Director Overseas Pakistanis.
