Says police should foil nefarious designs of anti-social elements; nothing more important than law, order

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed for ensuring foolproof security arrangements on Youm-e-Ali, Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (RA).

Issuing directions to Provincial Cabinet Committee for law and order, the CM said implementation on prescribed security plan should be ensured at every cost and police should work very diligently to foil nefarious designs of anti-social elements.

He said every step should be taken to ensure peace and protection of life and property of people, adding law enforcement agencies should remain fully vigilant and alert. He said nothing is more important than law and order and all possible resources should be utilised for the purpose, adding processions on Youm-e-Ali (RA) should be vigilantly monitored.

He said police officers should remain in field and anti-social elements should be kept under strict vigilance. Similarly, strict security arrangements should be made to maintain law and order in the province, he added.

He said the law enforcement agencies should leave no stone unturned in the performance of their duties and all line departments should perform their duties by maintaining best coordination amongst them. He directed for devising an effective monitoring mechanism under the security plan and added that every step should be taken to provide foolproof security to people. The Cabinet Committee for law and order should also ensure implementation of code of conduct at every cost, the CM said.

Sandhu: Punjab Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Minister Khalil Tahir Sandhu called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab Assembly Chamber.

In the meeting, 5 percent quota in financial institutions, law for protection of properties of minorities, an increase in minorities’ seats in Punjab Assembly and Chief Minister Package of 2016-17 and budget 2017-18 were discussed.
