Three killed as tractor hits rickshaw

Three people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Raiwind City on Sunday.

The victims were passing through a railway Phattak near police post towards Kot Radha Kishan in a rickshaw when a speeding tractor-trolley hit them. The rickshaw overturned. Seven passengers were shifted to Raiwind Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where doctors pronounced two of them dead on arrival. Another victim succumbed to his injuries later. Two deceased were identified as Zaffar Iqbal and Nusrat Bibi. Police have yet to ascertain the identity of the third.

Police have registered an FIR against the unidentified accused driver. Police said that the tractor-trolley had no number plate on it. They were searching for the suspect and investigating the matter. Yet in another incident, a police constable, identified as Suhail Akhar, was injured by a speeding car in the Defence area. The injured constable was admitted to hospital where his condition was said to be stable.

Two accused bike lifters held: Haier police arrested two suspected bike lifters on Sunday.

The arrested suspects were identified as Saddique Masih and Sagar Masih. Police also recovered Rs 200,000 in cash, one motorcycle and two mobile phones from them. A pistol was also seized.
