An Anti-Terrorism Court judge Haroon Latif on Monday awarded a 49-year jail to a terrorist, a former railway warden.
The court awarded life imprisonment to accused Azam under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism ACT. The court has awarded seven years jail to him under Section 4 (Punishment for attempt to cause explosion or for making or keeping explosives with intent to endanger life or property) of the Explosives Substances ACT, 1908. Under Section 5 (Punishment for making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances) of the same act, the court has further sentenced him for 14 years. The court also directed authorities concerned to confiscate moveable and immoveable assets of the terrorist.
Intelligence agencies had arrested Azam in 2014 and had seized a large quantity of explosives. Later, Ravi Road police had registered a case against him. Investigations revealed he was planning to explode railway tracks and trains.

Regional Election Commissioner had filed a complaint against former MPA and stated that she had fake degree and violated Section 78 (3) (d), 94 of Representation Act 1976 and Section 199 and 200 of PPC, 1860.
Later, Samina had filed her acquittal application contending that she had original degree on the basis of which she got elected to the legislative assembly. She submitted she was an honest lady and was not involved in any misconduct. On Monday, the court after hearing the final arguments of both parties acquitted Samina Khawar Hayat in bogus degree case.
