Panama case verdict may improve affairs: Shujaat

Pakistan Muslim League-N President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said it seems that in Panama case the Supreme Court will give such a verdict which will pinpoint defects and give some direction for running the country in the right direction. He said this while talking to the journalists at his residence here Sunday. In response to a question about the Senate chairman, he said “I think Raza Rabbani is a brave man, but he started raising hue and cry and complaining about the ministers that the ministers do not come, as a Senate chairman he should know for running the House he has got vast powers which he can use. He said if the Senate chairman wants he can ban the entry of the ministers in the House like Chairman Senate Wasim Sajjad had once banned the entry of the Attorney General in the House. I think (what Senate chairman says) do not have any impact on many ministers and they do not understand the parliamentary language.
Teachers protest tomorrow

Schoolteachers protesting handing over of selected public schools to Daanish Schools Authority have announced observing a demonstration over the issue and
other problems faced by them on April 18 (Tuesday). Punjab Teacher Union (PTU) leaders had given the call of the protest demo following a dialogue with schools department officials the other day. Their other demands include in-service promotion and up-gradation. The PTU leaders said the schoolteachers would observe a peaceful demo outside Punjab Assembly tomorrow as the dialogue mostly remained unsuccessful and warned that the government would be responsible in case any attempt was made to disrupt the peaceful activity.
14 arrested

Lytton Road police conducted search operations in its limits and arrested 14 suspects, including seven court absconders. The arrested suspects had failed to produce their identification papers for checking on demand.
PTI worried over Karachi’s sanitation

Insaf Professional Wing Chairperson and ticket holder of PTI from NA-120 Dr Yasmin Rashid has expressed concern over the poor sanitary situation in Karachi. Talking to a delegation of PTI stalwarts from Karachi on Sunday, Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the local government led by the mayor of Karachi had failed in its first 100 days plan to clean the city, whereas, the citizens were also deprive of the basic facilities of life such as clean drinking water. She said that it was obvious now that like the federal government, the Sindh administration was also not serious in addressing the problems of Karachi, adding that the Professional Wing of PTI wouldn’t act as silent spectator now over this issue. Dr Yasmin Rashid warned the federal and Sindh governments to take the situation of Karachi seriously and ensure provision of basic facilities such as clean drinking water to the people.
